La Befana Visits the Children

Sunday, January 6, 2019

Time: 1:30 – 2:30 PM
Carey C. Jones Community Center
309 Hollerman Street
Apex, NC

La Befana is an old lady of Italian legend who did not go with the Magi to see the Christ Child and now searches the countryside for him. In case she might miss him, she leaves candies and treats in the stockings of good children on the eve of Epiphany.

Please bring your favorite good girls and boys between the ages of 2 and 12 to enjoy a reading of the story of La Befana, cookies and hot chocolate, and gifts from La Befana herself.

Parents or grandparent of the children are asked to stay for the hour! If you wish to bring some good children to the party please sign up so that we know how many to expect and La Befana will have enough gifts! This is a sponsored activity for the children of our Lodge and guests of members. There is no cost. If you wish to bring some Christmas cookies with you, none would be refused!

Please email Anita Kretchik at if you will be attending and if you can bring 1-2 dozen Christmas cookies. Deadline to register is January 4th.

Please make sure that you RSVP so we can make sure each little boy and girl receives a treat.

This year’s movie is “It Started in Naples” starring Clark Gable and Sophia Loren. This classic oldie is about an American lawyer who goes to Naples to settle the estate of his long estranged brother. Once there, he discovers that the deceased has left an eight-year old little boy, who is being raised by his aunt. Objecting to his upbringing, the lawyer’s decision to bring the boy to America leads to a lengthy and heated custody battle with the boy’s aunt.
The movie will start at 4:30 and will be followed by dinner.

Admission includes popcorn, pizza, salad, dessert and coffee. Beverages will be available for purchase.

There will also be Lodge cookbooks, aprons and T-shirts for sale, a 50/50 raffle, and a raffle for a terrific array of several prizes.
