Annual Italian Potluck Dinner and Installation

October 13, 2021 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM

American Legion Post 67, 8523 Chapel Hill Road, Cary

What’s better than a potluck with a group of Italians. Please join us at our Annual Italian Potluck Dinner and Installation of the new council. This is a free event but we do need help setting up and cleaning up. If you can help, please email Nick Verna at nickverna14@gmail.com.

Dinner will be served promptly at 6:00 and please come with your dish all prepared as there is no place to cook.  Bring a serving spoon or fork for your dish. This is the one event we ask our members to bring some of your delicious, favorite Italian recipes.

This event is restricted to members only, no guests.

Main dishes, vegetable/salad dishes, and desserts need to serve 8-10 people.

Wine Tasting at Capri Flavors

October 28th, 6:00 to 7:30

Capri Flavors, 867 Bass Pro Lane, Harrison Square Shopping Center, Cary, NC 27513 (just off I40)

We are happy to announce a wine tasting at Capri Flavors in Cary on  October 28th. The cost will be $5 for members and $8.00 for nonmembers. It will run from 6:00 to 7:30 and will feature 5 wines from Sicily which will be matched with either a cheese or meat. You will also get a 10% discount on all items at Capri Flavors. The store will be closed and only available to guests. 

SPECIAL NEW MEMBER OFFER: Members that brings a guest who signs up that night to become a new member will get a $20.00 gift card from Capri and the guest will get the event free.

Registration deadline is October 25. No refunds!

Backyard Bistro – 1235 Hurricane Alley Way, Raleigh, NC

Presented by Committee:  Pat DiLeonardo, Caroline Connor and Tony DiSantostefano.

Join us as we honor the outstanding Italian/American for 2021, enjoy a good meal, and enjoy each others company.

Time:  5:15 – 5:45 mingle and get a drink – cash bar available for alcoholic drinks and soda

5:45      Buffet Dinner to include:
Baked Macaroni
Sausage and Peppers
Broccoli with Lemon and garlic
Caesar Salad
Sweet tea, unsweeted tea, lemonade
Brownies (Joe’s famous) for dessert

Cost:  $16.00 per member includes tax and tip

We usually cook for 30 women and the meals consist of
the following items:
 Garden Salad
 Drinks (2-gal Sweet Iced Tea & 2-Gal Lemonade)
 Entrée (ex. Meatloaf, BBQ, Chicken Parm, Pot Roast)
 Side/Vegetable to go with the entrée
 Dessert (ex. Lg Sheet Cake, Ice Cream & Brownies, Pies)

 

 

Volunteer at Arc’s Annual Holiday Children’s Party & Pic’s with Santa

The Arc’s Annual Holiday Children’s Party & Pic’s with Santa help children with disabilities fell the Christmas spirit. It’s a great way to get the Christmas spirit yourself by spending it with children and Santa.

Date: Saturday, 12/4/2021

Set Up: 11:00am

Event: 1:00pm-4:00pm

Shifts are 1 ½ hrs. each

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (7000 Creedmoor Rd., Raleigh)

Volunteer Arrival- whatever shift they sign up for they should arrive about 5-10 minutes early as they will need to check in & get instructions of their specific duties. Shifts are 1 ½ hrs. each (with the exception of set up). Shifts begin at 12:45pm (Sign in table & Food Area) or 1:00pm (all others).

Volunteer Duty: Setup/Clean up, Sign In Table, Food Server, Arts & Craft Tables, Santa Helpers (escort children/family to take pictures with Santa) and spread holiday cheer.

Volunteers Needed: 15-20

 Opera season in Raleigh is finally back. We have 30 seats at $38 dollar per seat. Tickets will soon be available online. These tickets sell out fast so don’t wait once they are posted online.  Maria Knall will be handling the ticket sales.

La bohème (pronounced, “La bo-EM”) is an Italian opera in four acts. The music was written by Giacomo Puccini. The libretto was written by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa . The opera tells the story of a love affair between a poor poet and an equally poor seamstress in 19th century Paris. The opera is sung in Italian and there will be subtitles.
